CHURDAN — Lawrence J. (Larry) Geisler, age 84, of rural Churdan/ Jefferson area died September 11, 2017. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday at St. Columbkille Church in Churdan with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at the Church from 5 to 7 PM with a Rosary at 6:15 pm and a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm. The Brown Funeral Homes of Churdan is assisting the family.

Lawrence Jerome Geisler, the son of Edward Sr and Agnes Maloy Geisler, was born August 3, 1933. He graduated from Churdan High School in 1950. Later he received degrees from Creighton and Iowa State Universities and was on the instructional staff of three summer institutes at Harvard University. He taught English for 25 years at Marshalltown High School where he was concurrently the head of the English Department in grades 7-12 for 20 of those years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edward Jr, two sisters Lucille Geisler Kersey and Hazel Geisler, a brother-in-law Kenneth Kersey, and two nephews Daniel and David Gelsler

He is survived by nine nieces and nephews Sandra Donald and Kathleen Kersey, Syivene Hatfield, Anne Minnehan, and Patrick, John, Jerry and Andy Geisler. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Mary Geisler, and two additional generations of nieces and nephews.
