VIRGIL L. “FROSTY” HEIDT

HUMBOLDT — Virgil L. “Frosty” Heidt, 91, of Humboldt passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Humboldt North Care Center.

A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Humboldt. Private funeral services will be on Tuesday with burial at Indian Mound Cemetery. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Roger of Robins, IA; daughter, Marcia (Stan) Nicholson of Plymouth, IA; grandchildren, Wayne (Missy); Jeffery; and Laura; great-grandchildren, Connor; Daymon: Logan: Ruthann: and Ryann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Frances (Alger) Heidt; four brothers and a sister.

Virgil Leroy Heidt was born March 28, 1926 in Clark County, Owen Wisconsin. At the age of six, Virgil moved with his family to Humboldt. He attended the Humboldt schools. Following his education, Virgil enlisted in the United State Army. Frosty was attached to the 101st Airborne Division and he received his honorable discharge in June of 1946. On September 18, 1948, Virgil was united in marriage to Betty Kirchhoff at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Frosty was employed with Royal 400 for a period of time, then the Humboldt Creamery, and then he was a lineman for Corn Belt. In 1954, Frosty became employed with the US Post Office and retired as the Post Master in 1983. Frosty served on the city council for several years. Following his retirement he was a very active volunteer and was involved with many civic organizations and groups. Frosty was a member of the Humboldt American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family’s discretion for a charity of choice.
