Phillip C. Halligan



MOORLAND — Phillip C. Halligan 80, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Gowrie Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie, with Pastor James Davis officiating. Burial will be at Fulton Township Cemetery, Moorland. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Survivors include daughters, Shelley Bennett of Gowrie, and Debbie Halligan of Fort Dodge; sons, Jeff Halligan, of Big Lake, MN, and Randy (Staci) Halligan of Gowrie; grandchildren, Brooke (Ben) Beschorner, Heidi (Jason) McGuire, Cassie (Sade) Barrett, Chance Halligan, and Ross and Will Halligan; great-grandchildren, Gavyn, Declan and Ina McGuire, Bristol Beschorner, Ka’reena and Kayanna Barrett; sister Joan Johanson of Ft. Dodge; and brother Walt (Darlyne) Halligan of Oelwein. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Halligan; parents, Clarence and Clara (Hayek) Halligan; brother Bob Halligan; and son-in-law Roger Bennett.

Phillip Clement Halligan was born November 23, 1936 at Fort Dodge. He graduated from Moorland Consolidated High School, with the Class of 1956. On November 8, 1958, he was united in marriage to Pat Larsen. They resided in Moorland their entire married life. Phil worked for many years at Dr. MacDonald Vitamized Feed Company in Moorland. He later worked at Celotex until his retirement. Phil was a member of the former United Church of Christ Congregational in Moorland. He enjoyed woodworking, antiquing, garage sales and tinkering with his trucks. He had so much fun with Halloween, decorating the yard, pranking and joking with his family and friends. His wife Pat passed away in 2011.
