Purpose and divine intervention explored at Lifetree Cafe Tuesday

Questions about life’s purpose and divine intervention will be explored at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lifetree Cafe.

The program — titled “Does God Have a Plan for You?”— features a filmed interview with Operation Baby Lift volunteer LeAnn Thieman. In the final days of the Vietnam War, Thieman and other volunteers extracted hundreds of at-risk babies from Vietnamese orphanages.

During the interview, Thieman explains she originally traveled to Vietnam to escort six orphans to the United States. Upon arrival, she learned she would have a very different mission.

“When I reached Saigon, I was greeted with the words ‘Have you heard the news? President Ford approved Operation Baby Lift. You’re going to help us take home 300 orphans,'” she says.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Cafe is located at Cana, 18 S. Third St.

Lifetree Cafe is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting. Questions about Lifetree may be directed to Rev. Barbara Huisman at 302-8036.
