Small fire reported in Fort Dodge

Firefighters with the Fort Dodge Fire Department were able to extinguish a small fire early Monday afternoon before it could spread.

The fire was reported shortly before noon at 1202 S. 25th St.

Nobody was hurt.

According to Lenny Sanders, assistant Fort Dodge fire chief, the home’s residents had noticed smoke was coming out of an electrical outlet.

Eventually flames began coming out of the outlet as well.

Sanders said firefighters shut the power off and put the fire out.

He added that they were able to extinguish the flames before they spread to the second floor of the house.

Sanders said firefighters were also going to check to see if there were any working smoke detectors in the home.
