Peterman is new Webster City Chamber director

Jennifer Peterman

WEBSTER CITY — Jennifer Peterman has been hired as the new director of the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce. She began her duties Tuesday.

She and her husband, Dan, live on an acreage west of Webster City. Originally, from Gowrie, Peterman was previously employed with the Webster County Public Health Department where she worked primarily with WIC and Maternal Health.

“That was a lot of community involvement with families,” she said. She also worked as a nail technician for 12 years.

Peterman learned of the job from Denise Smith, owner of SOS Vintage in Webster City.

“She was the one who suggested I apply,” Peterman said.

She looks forward meeting people and diving into the job.

“I have a lot of work to do,” she said. “We’re going to make some positive changes.”

The Chamber office has been without a director and paid staff since June. The office closed for a several days, but later reopened with volunteers manning the phones and handling daily tasks.
