Accident report: pickup lost control on icy roads Sunday

Details have been released from a head-on collision Sunday night on icy roads about three miles east of Fort Dodge.

A Chrysler 300 was traveling west on County Road D20 at about 5:30 p.m., while a Ford F150 Super Crew pickup was heading east. The truck lost control just west of Taylor Avenue and crossed the center line, hitting the car, according to the accident report prepared by Iowa State Trooper Blaine Kamp.

The car, driven by Jessee Hedeen, of Duncombe, ended up in the north ditch. The truck was spun around and ended up facing the other way, in the westbound traffic lane.

Hedeen was taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center, along with the driver of the truck, Milder Perez Barrios, of Fort Dodge, and two passengers: Gillermina Barrios and an 11-year-old.

Both vehicles were totalled.

D20 had icy patches from the snowstorm that had come through the area, Kamp wrote.

Milder Perez Barrios was cited for having no valid driver’s license, failure to maintain control, and failure to use child restraint device.
