Heavy load coming through Webster County today
Some time today a “rolling road closure” will accommodate an oversized load vehicle totalling almost 243 tons.
A huge transformer will be moved from Storm Lake to Wellsburg in Grundy County on a specialized trailer that will require two trucks — one pulling in front, and one pushing from behind, said Webster County Engineer Randy Will.
The specialized load will take a short route through Webster County on its way from Boone County, along County Road P70 up to Iowa Highway 175.
The load has about 27 axles, the better to not strain the road while carrying 485,000 pounds, and will slow or stop when necessary to allow traffic to pass.
