Wastewater discharge reported in Manson

MANSON — Wastewater discharge into East Cedar Creek in Manson has been stopped, but the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is asking that precautions be taken around the creek.

The discharge was caused by a pump leak Monday night.

The seals on the pump failed, which caused the pumping station to flood and overflow.

City officials repaired the pump and the flow ended around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The DNR recommended that children and pets be kept away from East Cedar Creek for the next 24 to 48 hours.
