Budget, housing on agenda for Fort Dodge City Council
The budget for the next fiscal year and housing are both on the agenda for the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday.
The council’s efforts will begin at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with a budget workshop. The elected officials will review the proposed 2018-2019 budgets for the water and sewer systems and the road use tax. The 2018-2019 fiscal year begins July 1, 2019, but state law requires cities to have their budgets done by mid-March.
The council’s regular business meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building.
During that session, the elected officials will consider selling land in the 400 blocks of South Seventh Street and South Eighth Street to Metro Investments Fort Dodge LLC for $68,000. That company plans to build two 12-plex apartment buildings there. Plans for those apartment buildings were first announced in early 2016.
In another housing related move, the council will consider giving $330,000 to Northwest Iowa Building Co. LLC to help it pay for the infrastructure needed to develop homes on the west side of Williams Drive between 20th and 25th avenues north.
