Williams Bend cable to be relocated
A copper phone cable that stretches across multiple lots in the Williams Bend subdivision will be moved.
The Fort Dodge City Council approved the relocation of the cable at a special meeting Monday night.
Action related to the cable was packaged with other items in the council’s consent agenda, which was passed without discussion.
As it sits, the cable interferes with the development of Williams Bend.
Frontier Communications is to move that equipment at an estimated cost of $177,000.
The cost to relocate the equipment will be repaid with tax increment financing generated from housing constructed along 24th Avenue North.
Frontier will redirect the cable that runs through the field north of 21st Avenue North and east of Williams Drive.
The new cable will run in the south right of way of 20th Avenue North to Williams Drive, then north in the east right of way of Williams Drive to an existing manhole south of 25th Avenue North.
