FD planners recommend change at industrial park

The Fort Dodge Plan and Zoning Commission on Tuesday recommended a slight change in the layout of the new industrial park on the city’s east side.

The industrial site is along an extension of First Avenue South that’s north of the Decker Truck Line Inc. campus. It is known as the Decker Development Park or the Crosstown Connector Industrial Park. Infrastructure for the park was completed in 2016. No businesses are located there yet, but last fall MidAmerican Energy announced plans to build a new service center there.

Associate City Planner Maggie Carlin told the commission that an error was made in the first plat of the site. To fix that error, a new plat that moves the property lines on the western side of the site about five feet north is needed.

The commission voted to recommend that change. Commission member Jim Kesterson abstained from the otherwise unanimous vote because his company, Kesterson Realty, is selling the lots in the industrial park.

The matter now goes to the City Council.
