Algona Presbyterian Adult Choir to perform

ALGONA – Through music and narration the Christmas story will be shared as seen through the eyes of the Judean shepherds when the First Presbyterian Church Adult Choir presents “The Shepherd’s Story” at 3 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the church, 101 N. Main St., Algona.

During the musical presentation, the choir will be sharing many familiar carols, several new Christmas anthems, in addition to several anthems that have been shared in previous programs which have become favorites of the choir. During the program, the choir will be sharing the challenging anthem “And the Glory of the Lord” by Handel.

The program will close with a medley using several renditions of “Joy to the World.” Grace Freeburg and Jason Etherington will be featured as soloists, and Kathi Ricklefs will be featured on hand bells.

Accompanying the choir will be Bev Mawdsley and the director, the Rev. Walt Reemtsma.

“I am really excited about this year’s program of music that the choir will be sharing. This will be our 15th annual musical presentation, and the choir members are working diligently to make it one of our best,” said Reemtsma. “I think this program of varied music will help set a wonderful tone for the Christmas season as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.”

A freewill offering will be taken during the program to further enhance the musical ministry of the church.

Following the musical program everyone is invited to remain for a time of fellowship and a light supper which will be served in the Fellowship Hall.
