Nelson resigns from FDCS Foundation

Annual event raised $80,000 under her watch

Molly Nelson, the director of the Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation, announced her resignation from that position on Tuesday.

Nelson became the foundation’s first paid director in October 2017.

“We (the board) thank Molly for her time and efforts in growing awareness of the Foundation,” said FDCS Foundation President Jen Pederson. “We have seen how having a director in place can really increase the impact the Foundation has on education, and we are excited to continue that with the next director.”

The Foundation’s annual “Go Big, Go Dodgers” event on April 5 raised more than $80,000 with attendance at nearly 400 people.

Both numbers are the highest in recent memory, according to board members.

“Community support for the Foundation is amazing,” Nelson said. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to help enhance education for the district my husband and I graduated from and that my four children will be educated in. My family and I will continue to support the amazing work the board and the Foundation are doing to help educators and students go above and beyond in the classroom.”

Nelson said she will pursue an opportunity in marketing and communications for a retirement planning company.
