ROWAN — A Rowan man who admitted to the promotion, dissemination, and possession of child pornography has been sentenced to prison, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Department.

Timothy Roberts, 49, entered a guilty plea on Nov. 9, 2018, to five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, which are Class D felonies.

Roberts was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday.

He will be required to register on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Roberts was arrested in August 2018.

The case was initiated by a cyber tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip was forwarded to the Wright County Sheriff’s Department for investigation by the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Webster County Cyber Crime Unit.
