The Fort Dodge Community School District has announced a new principal for Duncombe Elementary School.
Ryan Flaherty, the current Fort Dodge Middle School principal, will become the principal at Duncombe beginning with the 2019 school year.
Pat Reding, the current Duncombe principal, is retiring at the end of this school year.
“Mr. Flaherty brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role at Duncombe Elementary,” said Jesse Ulrich, superintendent. “His passion to meet the needs of all kids, willingness to partner with parents and families and desire to help our staff develop and grow will continue to make Duncombe Elementary a great place to learn and work.”
Flaherty began his career with the Fort Dodge Community School District as a counselor at Phillips Middle School.
His experience also includes time as an assistant principal at Riverside Elementary, principal at Feelhaver Elementary, assistant principal at Fort Dodge Middle School and regional administrator for Prairie Lakes Area Education Association. He received his Administrative Endorsement from the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy in 2013.
“I look forward to building relationships with the students, staff and parents of Duncombe Elementary to collaborate toward authentic learning experiences for all of the students,” Flaherty said. “I am passionate about education, and I welcome the opportunity to continue to share this passion with the students, families and the community of Fort Dodge.”
