Mosley pleads guilty to federal gun charge

Torre Mosley

SIOUX CITY — A Fort Dodge man who had previously pleaded guilty to his involvement in a 2015 shooting has now made a guilty plea in federal court.

Torre Mosley, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a felon in federal court Thursday.

According to the United States attorney’s office, Northern District of Iowa, Mosley admitted that, in November 2017, he possessed a .40-caliber Glock that he used for protection.

Mosley also admitted in court that he was a cocaine and marijuana dealer.

His sentencing in federal court will be set at a later date.

Mosley had previously pleaded guilty to willful injury causing serious injury, possession of a firearm as a felon and going armed with intent in connection with a 2015 shooting in the parking lot of Sneakers Eatery and Pub, 1317 Central Ave.

He admitted in Webster County District Court that on Nov. 27, 2015, he shot Damal Clayton, 25, of Fort Dodge, around 2 a.m. in the parking lot.

Officers responded to the shooting and found Clayton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Clayton was first taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center before being transferred to an undisclosed Des Moines hospital for further treatment.

Mosley was turned in to the Fort Dodge Police Department more than a week after the shooting.

While he was sentenced to a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, the Iowa Department of Corrections website states that Mosley was placed on parole.

Pending his sentencing, Mosley will remain free on bond, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

He faces up to 10 years in prison.
