What will the student center house?

The Greehey Family Student Success Center at Iowa Central Community College will provide a single place where students can access a variety of services.

It will consolidate veterans services, enrollment services, student advising, financial aid, counseling, health care, career services, distance learning and early intervention support in one spot. Now those services are spread throughout several buildings on the Fort Dodge campus.

A $3 million donation from the Greehey Family Foundation will pay for half of the cost of building the center.

The remaining $3 million will come from a $25.5 million general obligation bond issue approved by the voters of nine counties in February.

The center will be located on what is now a parking lot next to a pond in the middle of the campus.

A 44,000-square-foot two-story building is proposed.

In January, college officials will seek bids from contractors interested in building the facility, with the goal of awarding a contract in February.

Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2019 and be substantially complete in May 2020.

The center is expected to open in the fall of 2020.
