Autopsy ordered, authorities seek information
WEBSTER CITY — The identity of a man found deceased at a rural Webster City residence Tuesday morning has been released by the Hamilton County sheriff’s office.
Gregory Allen Pekkala, 59, of Webster City, was named by the sheriff’s office as the man deputies found dead Tuesday morning.
According to online records, Pekkala was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and had been employed in the area.
He was affiliated with the Advanced Pain Clinic that has offices in Humboldt, Belmond and Iowa Falls.
Deputies were called to 724 Kendall Young Road shortly after 9 a.m. Monday for a welfare check, which occurs when someone calls the Sheriff’s Office and requests that deputies check on a person to make sure there’s nothing wrong with them.
Online records of the Hamilton County assessor’s office list Pekkala as the owner of the property.
His body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed.
Officials with the sheriff’s office said there is no reason to believe that there is an ongoing threat to the citizens of the county.
An Advanced Pain Clinic biography states Pekkala graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee School of Nursing in 1987. He earned his Anesthesia Certificate from St. Francis/University of Wisconsin Lacrosse School of Anesthesia in 1992. He was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the American Academy of Pain Management. He was retired from the US Army Reserves, having served from 1980 to 2002.
