Body recovered from car in Moorland Pond
MOORLAND – Rescuers have recovered a body from inside of a car that was submerged in Moorland Pond Friday.
Dr. Dan Cole, Webster County medical examiner, said the body belonged to a woman, but did not provide any more information as to her identity, pending notification of family.
Webster County Sheriff Jim Stubbs said a witness spotted the car going into Moorland Pond shortly before 9 a.m. Friday.
The body will be transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Ankeny for autopsy.
Stubbs said nothing can be ruled out at this point in regards to why the car went into the pond, but he did say it does not appear to be suspicious.
The Fort Dodge Fire Department, Fort Dodge Police Department, Moorland Fire Department, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Iowa State Patrol were also on scene.
