Hit-and-run in Gowrie under investigation

GOWRIE — A man was injured over the weekend in Gowrie after he was apparently struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle.

The accident was reported Saturday around 3 a.m.

Webster County Sheriff Jim Stubbs said the man was hit by a vehicle that left the scene of the accident.

A deputy later found a vehicle in town with damage that was consistent with striking the bicyclist, he said.

While the Webster County Sheriff’s Department didn’t identify anyone involved, family members identified the bicyclist on social media as Kaelan Lundberg.

Stubbs said the incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.

He said there seems to be some disagreement on whether the person driving the vehicle had permission to drive it or not, but that’s something that’s still being investigated.

Social media posts indicated Lundberg was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center Saturday for treatment.

The Gowrie Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
