Lakota woman’s death a homicide, Kossuth County authorities say
LAKOTA — Kossuth County authorities are calling the death of a 38-year-old Lakota woman a homicide.
The body of Krista Lynn Hesebeck was found by deputies answering a 911 call at 202 Second St., Lakota, shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday morning.
According to a report from Kossuth County Sheriff Stephen Kollasch’s office, the call alerting authorities characterized the incident as a “domestic assault with weapons.”
They arrested 45-year-old Chad David Dietrick and charged him with first-degree murder, a class A felony.
Dietrick had lacerations to his left arm when he was arrested, authorities said.
He was found at 517 Smith St., Lakota, the location from which authorities determined the 911 call originated.
Dietrick was being held in the Kossuth County Jail late Saturday awaiting his initial court appearance, according to Kollasch’s office.
The cause of Hesebeck’s death will be determined by autopsy, authorities said.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called to assist in the investigation.
The Algona Police Department, Forest City Police Department and the Winnebago County sheriff’s office assisted in the investigation. Ambulances from Lakota, Swea City and Algona were on scene.
