Staff from Fort Dodge Middle School and Fort Dodge Senior High will face each other on the basketball court Thursday night for a good cause.

Tip off is at 6 p.m. inside the Fort Dodge Senior High gym.

Cost is $2 per person. The funds raised from the game will go towards new books for both FDMS and FDSH, according to Ryan Flaherty, FDMS principal.

“Across our district, literacy is an area we want our kids to improve on,” he said. “Our students will enjoy reading in their classroom and have access to literacy.”

Flaherty said Kenneth Hayes, FDSH principal, thought of the idea.

“He asked if we would be interested,” Flaherty said. “Teaching and education is a tough job, so we are always looking for ways that we can have our staff enjoy themselves at work and build a positive culture and climate, so we agreed.”

Flaherty said a combination of men and women from the two schools will be competing.

Senior basketball players will serve as coaches, referees and announcers.

He said it’s sure to be a good time.

“We’ll probably have a few laughs while they are out on the court,” he said.
