First responders survey the area of a single-vehicle crash on the northwest side of Kenyon Road Bridge near South Eighth Street Sunday afternoon. One woman was treated for minor injuries, according to officials. Wind chills throughout the morning and afternoon ranged from -25 to -35 degrees, according to Allan Curtis, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Des Moines. Curtis said high temperatures are expected to remain below zero today. Snow chances are minimal throughout the rest of the week, Curtis reported. The icy road conditions have caused a number of drivers to lose control of their vehicles in recent days. Mike Rees, owner of Mid-Iowa Towing in Fort Dodge, said his company has responded to about a dozen or so accidents in each of the last two days. Rees said there have been between 50 and 60 calls from people’s vehicles not starting.
