Friendship Haven fundraiser promises joy

‘It’s a friend raiser too’

Friendship Haven is putting on its inaugural JOY! concert this evening featuring musical artist Jill Miller in the Decker Auditorium at Iowa Central Community College.

Denise Halverson, director of engagement at Friendship Haven, said concert-goers are in for a treat.

“Jill is a singer songwriter and guitarist who will be surrounded by her talented six-piece band in a festive stage set,” she said. “Jill Miller will delight our senses during a high energy two-hour show.”

Miller is slated to perform a varied selection of music.

“It will be filled with holiday classics and original music in a variety of musical styles,” Halverson said. “She’s a little country, a little rock’n’roll with a little classical thrown in. I think the audience will love her.”

Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults and $10 for students. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The event is also a fundraiser; benefits from the show go to the Good Samaritan Fund.

“It helps with those who have special needs or can’t afford all of the cost to stay,” she said.

She said the event is an opportunity to give back to the community.

“It’s also a great to share the Friendship Haven story with their friends,” she said. “It’s a friend raiser too.”

Halverson hopes those attending the concert leave with happiness and goodwill in their hearts.

“Joy, peace, love, belief,” she said. “All the things that warm the heart at Christmas.”
