Zuspann held on cash bond
A convicted sex offender in Fort Dodge who is facing new sexual abuse charges has been ordered held on bond.
Cody Zuspann, 23, is being held on a combined $330,000 cash-only bond at the Webster County Jail.
Zuspann is accused of performing sexual acts on three teenagers in August and September of this year.
He has been charged with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, second offense, all class A felonies, and three counts of violating the sex offender registry, all Class C felonies.
Zuspann was arrested Tuesday morning in Council Bluffs. He was extradited back to Fort Dodge later that day.
At his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday, Zuspann stayed silent, only acknowledging his name when Magistrate William Thatcher asked who he was.
Thatcher also issued no-contact orders between Zuspann and the three teens he’s accused of sexually abusing, as well as set a preliminary hearing for Oct. 20.
Police were first made aware of the incidents on Sept. 27, when they were dispatched to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center, for a report of an assault. According to Fort Dodge police, they determined that the minor had been sexually assaulted, and an investigation was started.
Zuspann was identified as the suspect.
Two additional victims were later found.
In 2015, Zuspann had pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual abuse and dissemination or exhibition of obscene material.
