Zuspann charged with violating probation

Convicted offender back in court

A Fort Dodge sex offender who is facing new sexual abuse charges is now charged with probation violation in connection to violating the terms of his first case.

Cody Zuspann, 23, of Fort Dodge, made his initial appearance on the probation violation charge Thursday morning in Webster County Magistrate Court.

Zuspann received a deferred judgment in 2015 after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of dissemination of obscene material to a minor.

Earlier this week, Zuspann was arrested on new sex offense charges — three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, second offense, and three counts of violating the sex offender registry.

He is accused of performing sex acts on three teenage girls in August and September of this year.

Police began investigating Zuspann after one of the victims was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Zuspann was arrested Tuesday morning in Council Bluffs and extradited back to Fort Dodge later in the day.

He was ordered held on a combined $330,000 cash bond on the new charges.

On the probation violation charge, Zuspann was ordered held on an additional $25,000 cash bond.

The probation case was sent to Webster County District Court, where Judge Kurt Stoebe scheduled a revocation hearing for Nov. 27.

Zuspann’s preliminary hearing on the new charges is Oct. 20.
