FDSH open house is postponed

An open house at Fort Dodge Senior High to tour the school’s newly remodeled spaces has been postponed, according to Jennifer Lane, FDCSD director of communications.

Those spaces include a new auxiliary gym, wrestling room, and classroom and locker room areas.

The open house was scheduled for Oct. 19.

According to Travis Filloon, director of building and grounds, the postponement was made because of some flooring work that still needs to be completed in the new locker room area.

“There have been some delays in the project and that has pushed our completion date back,” Filloon said.

The locker room space is being renovated as part of the classroom and locker room renovation project.

Woodruff Construction LLC, of Fort Dodge, is the general contractor.

The classroom portion of the project has been complete and that space has been used by students since the start of the school year.

Between the classroom and locker room spaces, a total of 34,578 square feet has been renovated. The high school, including the new auxiliary gym occupies 258,047 square feet.

Before being completely gutted, the locker room space was occupied by one boys locker room and one girls locker room. A wrestling room was also in that space.

The newly remodeled area will feature four locker rooms, two for girls and two for boys. It will also have new offices for referees and increased storage space.

The entirety of the locker room space should be finished by Nov. 10, Filloon reported.

A new date for the open house will be set in the coming weeks, according to Lane.
