Downtown Country Jam is Saturday
LOCASH headlining inaugural fall event in Fort Dodge
“We’re on to something big with this country thing.”
That’s what Shellabration Inc. President Jim Reed said about the inaugural Downtown Country Jam, which will be held Saturday evening in Fort Dodge.
LOCASH will be the headliner at the event in downtown Fort Dodge between the Trolley Center and Olde Boston’s Restaurant & Pub.
The stage will be located on North Ninth Street.
Reed said, if the weather holds out, this will be Shellabration Inc.’s most well-attended fall concert event.
“We’re on pace where we could have a record year, attendance-wise, for our fall show,” Reed said. “Our record prior to this was just over 2,600 for Hairball in 2016. If the weather gods cooperate, I think there’s a good chance we could get to 3,000 for the first time ever.”
The previous fall event, Oktoberfest, is not being held this year because of ongoing renovations at Oleson Park.
Reed said tickets for Saturday’s event, which also features Farm Rock and Fort Dodge native Jessica McClintock, are still available and can be purchased at the gate for $25.
However, he said people who are interested should buy their tickets as soon as possible because they may sell out by the time of Saturday’s show.
Kids 12 and under will be admitted free.
Reed said the concert will be festival-style seating, so people will have to bring their own chairs. There will also be a standing-room-only area at the front of the stage.
He said right now, things are looking to be on track for Downtown Country Jam to become an annual event.
“We’re already looking over the horizon at continuing the hot country music trend,” he said. “It’s looking good for continuing the trend.”
However, he said that will depend on how many attend the concert.
“I think it’s looking good,” he said.
