Semi ends up in cornfield

One man was injured in the single-vehicle crash, according to Trooper Mark Anderson, of the Iowa State Patrol. According to Anderson, the man was traveling eastbound in a semitrailer when he lost control around the curve. The semitrailer flipped on its side in a nearby cornfield. The man was transported to Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, Anderson reported. Dayton and Stratford volunteer fire departments, Dayton Police Department, Webster County sheriff's deputies, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources were on scene.

According to Nick Dunbar, Dayton police chief, the man was able to free himself from the cab and was found lying on top of the semitrailer when first responders arrived. The man's name was not released Monday.
