Stanhope bank robbed Friday

Police seek suspect

STANHOPE — An unknown suspect is being sought by police in Stanhope after he robbed a bank just before noon Friday.

In a written statement, the Ellsworth-Jewell-Stanhope Police Department said the suspect robbed the First State Bank around 11:48 a.m. Friday. He took an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect then fled on foot to the east.

He was described as a black man, about 6 feet tall, wearing a dark-colored shirt and light-colored khaki shorts.

Hamilton County Crime Stoppers is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
