CSBank is now Availa Bank

Local institution takes new name

A Fort Dodge bank adopted a new name on Friday.

The former CSBank is now Availa Bank, leaders of the financial institution announced Friday.

”We are proud to be a part of this community and we are excited to elevate our presence to provide our customers easier access to a larger network of financial institutions in communities across Iowa,” said Dave Flattery, the bank’s Fort Dodge market president and trust officer.

”We are still a community bank with local decision makers, and we are excited to develop new relationships in the communities we serve,” he added.

In Fort Dodge, Availa Bank is located at 130 N. 29th St.

The name change was made to increase the institution’s recognition in multiple markets in western and northern Iowa, bank officials wrote in a statement announcing the name change.

The renamed bank is still under the same ownership, and will retain the same employees and locations, according to the announcement.

Prior to the name change, Availa Bank operated as a network of financial institutions under different names that were all owned by Carroll County State Bank. All those banks are now called Availa Bank.

According to the bank’s announcement, the name Availa came from the first three syllables of the word available. Bank leaders said that word defines their mission, which is to always be available to customers, communities and employees with competitive products and responsive service.

What is now Availa Bank opened in Fort Dodge in 2001. Its first location was in the office of Dave Jones Realty at 1609 Central Ave. Flattery was the bank’s first president.

”The bank group did an assessment of the Fort Dodge community, and their reports indicated there was room for another bank here,” Flattery told The Messenger in 2001.

The North 29th Street location opened in November 2001. An addition was built onto it in 2015 to meet the need for more space.

There is also an Availa Bank location in Pocahontas.
