McClure Engineering Co. acquires Kansas company

CLIVE — McClure Engineering Co., Clive has acquired Shafer, Kline & Warren Inc., Lenexa., Kansas. Effective April 6, 2018, MEC has assumed operational control of SKW.

“At MEC, our vision is to ‘Make lives better by building strong communities,’ and our mission is to ‘Build relationships to help our clients be successful,'” said Terry Lutz, chief executive officer of MEC. “The people at SKW are very much aligned with us on this, as they have done the same things for their clients for a long time. Our cultures blend very well, and pooling our resources provides even greater opportunities for us to make lives better and help our clients be successful. We are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity to join forces with SKW.

The acquisition of SKW adds scale to MEC’s existing civil engineering and surveying services, expands its operations to the Kansas City metropolitan area and Oklahom, and diversifies the company’s capabilities by adding SKW’s engineering, procurement, and construction services for the oil and gas industry. SKW’s clients will have access to engineering disciplines in structural design, rail, intermodal facilities, aviation, and airport design, which are offered through MEC’s offices in Iowa and Missouri.

According to a statement released by MEC, the driving force behind this acquisition was to bring together a group of exceptionally talented engineers, technicians, and construction professionals who deliver high-quality services and solutions in the communities where they live and work. MEC’s initial focus is continuity of operations and retention.
