NEWS: Renovation of Andrew Birzer’s home was nearly complete. Birzer had received a traumatic brain injury while serving in the Iowa Army National Guard in Afghanistan and the renovation was done in honor of his service and to make his life easier.
SPORTS: Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson beat Fort Dodge 31-30 in the first game the Dodgers played at Dodger Stadium since artificial turf was installed.

NEWS: Moorland farmer Floyd Taylor said he hadn’t found anything he couldn’t do after his 1992 heart transplant.
SPORTS: Eric Bligard, Randy Childers, Phil Schroeder, Carolyn Brand and Beth Buehler were some of the champions in the 1993 Michelob Light Fort Dodge adult city tennis tournament.
50 Years ago: Aug. 30, 1968
NEWS: E.J. (Brunt) Bruntlett, Gowrie mayor for 10 years and a retired grain dealer, died at age 76.
SPORTS: Roland Voecks bowled a 222 game in the Low Twelve league.
