St. Ed Music Department participates in festival

The St. Edmond Catholic School Music Department traveled to Britt on April 6, participating alongside many other high schools in the IHSMA Solo/Small Ensemble Festival.

In some cases, students had been practicing and memorizing solo repertoire since November and they were excited for their work to come to fruition.

Of the 28 students, 25 of them returned with Division I (superior) honors as part of a solo or ensemble.

Most notably, Hallie Ehn received an Outstanding Performance Award also known as Best of Center.

Each adjudicator is given the privilege of assigning one of these awards for every entry they see. On May 16, Ehn will perform once more in a recital with the other recipients of this award.

Luanne Xiao received a perfect score on her Mozart flute solo. Other Division I recipients are: Zoe Assadipour, Nicholas Lawler, Maggie Lennon, Maggie Strickland, Ella Vratny, the Treble Choir and the Chamber Choir.
