HUMBOLDT — Jessica S. Ubben, owner and funeral director at Ubben-Lentz Funeral Home in Humboldt, has been elected as District 8 governor of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association.

A native of Humboldt, Ubben graduated from Humboldt High School in 2005. She earned an associate degree from Des Moines Area Community College in 2007 and an advance standing diploma in mortuary science from that same school in 2008.

In 2007, Ubben began working for Ewing Funeral Home with locations in Britt, Kanawha and Clarion,where she served her apprenticeship. In August 2010, she joined the staff of Lentz Funeral Home with locations in Algona, Livermore and Burt.

In 2013, she and Jayme Lentz opened Ubben-Lentz Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Ubben is a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Humboldt Noon Kiwanis and 100+ Women Who Care of Humboldt County. She has served on the Iowa Funeral Directors Association’s Education Committee for five years.
