Jeff Feaster, of Humboldt is Ace Freley, at left, and Chris Diedrick, also of Humboldt, attended the 2017 Masquerade for Your Health Ball as Paul Stanley. Peter Criss and Gene Simmons apparently had another booking.

The era of boom boxes, Pac-Man, cassette tapes and the Rubiks cube will return for one night on Nov. 3 to raise money for the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge.

The annual Masquerade for Your Health Ball will feature what organizers call a totally awesome ’80s theme this year.

The Shimkat Motor Co. showroom where the ball will be held will be decorated with “things that remind you of the ’80s,” said Lydia Schuur, the health center’s outreach coordinator. Music from Madonna, hair bands and other top acts of the decade will be played.

People will be encouraged to wear 1980s-style clothing to the event.

The ball will begin at 6 p.m. at the car dealership, 3126 Fifth Ave. S. A buffet dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Live and silent auctions will be held and there will be a 1980s style game show with Cameron Nelson as the master of ceremonies.

Cheri Beckley, of Fort Dodge, at left, Renae Kruckenberg, of Eagle Grove, and Reina Robinson, of Eagle Grove, get into the groovy spirit Saturday night at the Masquerade Ball For Your Health held at Shimkat Motors in Fort Dodge. The event is a fundraiser for the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge.

”It will be a really good night,” Schuur said. “It will be a lot of fun.”

Tickets cost $45 per person in advance. They will cost $50 per person at the door. To get tickets, call 515-576-6500.

Tickets for the raffle drawing to be held at the ball are also for sale. Those tickets cost $20 apiece, but six tickets can be purchased for $100. They can be purchased at the Community Health Center or Shimkat Motor Co.

The raffle prizes are a $5,000 gift card from Northland Travel, a $1,500 photography package from Chantelle Heiskell and a $500 gift card from Hy-Vee. People do not have to be at the ball to win a raffle prize.

The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge, 126 N. 10th St., is a nonprofit organization that provides health, dental and mental health services. Fees are on a sliding scale based on a patient’s ability to pay. The center was established in 2006.

Don Seltz, of Fort Dodge, shows off his 1970s vintage suit, pants and belt Saturday evening at the Masquerade Ball For Your Health held in the showroom at Shimkat Motors. Seltz wasn't sure exactly what year he purchased the suit, "It was back in the days." he said. The event is held to support the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge.

Proceeds from the ball help pay the daily costs of operating the facility.

“It helps raise money for ongoing expenses at the clinic,” Schuur said. “Community Health is a nonprofit organization working really hard in the community and helping a lot of people in the community.”
