Second annual BBQ Battle
Fort Frenzy will be the site of grills, music and tasty barbecue as the second annual BBQ Battle will be coming to town.
The battle, which is put on by the Rural Iowa BBQ Society, will be held Sept. 15.
The gates and beer garden open at 10 a.m. Saturday, with opening band Blue Ribbon Ramblers taking the stage at 11 a.m.
The dunk tank begins at noon, which is also when People’s Choice Sampling begins.
Toad Stool will start its performance at 1:30 p.m., while Chad Elliott takes to the stage at 4 p.m.
Also at 4 p.m., ballots for the competition will start being collected.
Awards will be given out at 6 p.m., which is also when sampling of the barbecue will be held.
An hour later, at 7 p.m., 7 Minutes to Midnight will take the stage in preparation for the headliner, AC/DC tribute band Shoot to Thrill, which will take the stage at 9:30 p.m.
Throughout the day, magician Roger Magic, from Denver, Colorado, will be on the grounds performing magic for those present.
The following day, Sept. 16, sampling will be held starting at noon. Live DJ entertainment will be provided as well.
Admission is $15 for adults. Children aged 11 to 16 are $5, and children 10 and under are admitted for free.
Proceeds from the BBQ Battle will go to the Fort Dodge Fire Department, the Moose Lodge and a culinary scholarship fund in the name of the late Michael Moore to Iowa Central Community College.
