Home and Lifestyle Show is March 2, 3, 4
The annual Home and Garden Expo where attendees learn about home improvement will have a new name starting this spring.
The expo will be called the Home and Lifestyle Show.
According to Regina Suhrbier, The Messenger’s multimedia sales manager, the name is more inclusive to a variety of vendors and their services.
“We already have a number of vendors signed up that are really excited about the addition of the word lifestyle to the show,” she said. “It opens the door for a lot of local businesses and will give visitors that much more to do and see while they are there.”
She added, “There will still be gardening and landscaping vendors, as well as presentations. But this opens the door to cooking and home decor among other services.”
The Home and Lifestyle Show will be held March 2, 3 and 4 on Iowa Central Community College’s East Campus, 2031 Quail Ave.
Those dates are one week earlier than previous shows have been held.
Suhrbier said that change was made in an attempt to increase attendance.
“We wanted to get away from competing shows in the region and state,” she said.
Suhrbier said the annual event is an opportunity for attendees to learn something new.
“There are so many vendors under one roof for gaining ideas, researching a home and outdoor projects,” she said. “You can compare prices, see the newest products. From small projects to large projects. You have folks that build houses or refurbish your bathroom in a weekend. There’s large and small projects.”
She added, “It’s great in the spring. Everyone is couped up all winter — they are thinking about their garden. It’s just a great time to meet with people in one spot”
Admission is being sponsored by Hy-Vee Market Grill Express. Freewill donations will also be accepted and donated to local food pantries.
