The Blanden Memorial Art Museum’s holiday open house will feature a silent auction that includes original artworks.

Get in the holiday spirit with the Blanden Memorial Art Museum when its doors open to the community for an evening of art, music and food.

The holiday open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 920 Third Ave. S.

“Every year at the Blanden, we hold this holiday jamboree to help raise funds for the art education program at the Blanden Art Museum,” said Hope Thier, art educator and assistant director of the museum.

The entertainment for the night begins at 5 p.m. with Brady O’Brien; followed by Bad to the Bone from 5:50 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Then taking the stage will be the Secor String Quartet from 6:40 p.m. to 7:20 p.m., and ending with Kris Karr Band from 7:25 to 8 p.m.

“The holiday open house is a great time to get together with friends and family to celebrate art education, and highlight the local and regional artists,” Thier said.

Guests can expect to see original artwork by local and regional artists in a variety of mediums that will be available for purchase in the expanded Gift Shop located in the West Gallery.

During the silent auction, the artists will also be donating original works for sale. Other items at the silent auction include baskets and items from businesses and individuals.

The silent auction works are displayed in the West Gallery as a temporary exhibit. The bidding started in November and will end the night of the event.

Door prizes for the night include Blanden tote bags, permanent collection coloring books, art supply packages, Blanden coffee mugs, art class gift certificates, and much more.

There will also be food for the guests to enjoy.

“Throughout the evening, guests will be able to find the distinctive flavors and aroma of Tea Thyme,” Thier said.

This is a free event for the public and all ages are welcome to join the Blanden during its holiday open house.
