A common vision

Benefit Walk will celebrate community

During this year’s Benefit Walk, One Vision wants to celebrate everyone who is part of our community and the common vision that brings people together.

“This is the 48th annual Benefit Walk to raise awareness and critical funds for the organization,” said Jennifer Pinske, development officer for the agency that serves the disabled. ”Without the money raised by charitable contributions we would not be able to provide the necessary supports to people who need them.”

The walk and related events will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fort Dodge City Square.

One Vision was formerly known as Opportunity Village.

Before the walk, everyone is invited to One Vision’s annual appreciation picnic, where the organization will pay tribute to its staff and families, friends, and community members.

At the appreciation picnic, the Mocking Birds from Clear Lake will be playing live music for the guests enjoying food prepared by Fieldhouse Restaurant.

Following the appreciation picnic, the Benefit Walk will be held at City Square Park in Fort Dodge, a community in which One Vision supports more than 160 people and employs close to 150. This includes services provided in neighboring communities including Eagle Grove, Webster City and Humboldt.

This year’s theme, CommUNITY, will celebrate the people who receive services, employees, volunteers, families, and supporters who all comprise the One Vision community.

“We are all united in our mission to support individuals, their abilities and choices, and to connect them with purpose,” said Pinske. “At our 48th annual Benefit Walk, we want to recognize everyone who is part of our community and this common vision that brings us together.”

The public is invited to help support One Vision by gathering a team of family, friends, or coworkers to join those supported by the organization and take a walk around the park.

The walk will begin at 1 p.m. Registration will be held prior to the walk, during which attendees will enjoy music and special interactive booths and displays, where they will learn more about the services the organization provides.

The public is invited to stick around following the walk. The Mocking Birds will continue to play live music for the guests There will also be various kids’ activities, along with One Vision’s own Snap Chat filter, and bingo with prizes from local businesses.

“Our name symbolizes how our founders came together with a common vision that still helps guide our efforts today — to connect people with purpose, ” Pinske said. ”It unifies our organization throughout the numerous North Iowa communities in which we provide services, The name also reinforces this vision in the many new services and unique endeavors we did and continue to pursue. Above all, it strongly represents our commitment to the people we support as the driving force behind everything we do.”
