Donkey Daze Celebration is Saturday
Annual Renwick event kicks off with pancake breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
RENWICK — Renwick’s 29th annual Donkey Daze celebration will begin with a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the fire shed on Main Street. The drawing for the winner of the Henry Golden Boy 22lr rifle will be during the breakfast.
City Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on the Main Street for anyone wishing to view the old Vernon, Renwick and Boone Valley trophies.
The Donkey Daze coed volleyball tournament will start at 9 a.m. at Renwick’s six sandpit courts. If you still wish to enter call (515) 332-4386 or (515) 890-9920 or check Donkey Daze VB Facebook page.
Donkey Daze parade begins at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street. For parade information, call (515) 824-3525.
The Wright County beef producers will cook burgers following the parade at the fire station for a free-will offering.
Free kid’s games will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. under the tent. Free rides on the Buffalo Train.
Registration for the free big wheel races is from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Racing starts at noon with four ages groups, from 3 years up to adults. Questions call (515) 890-8418 or (515) 890-1093.
A car show will also follow the parade. There is a $5 entry with judging at 1 p.m. Several categories will be awarded. Pre-register by calling (515) 890-9462.
Registration for the Blue Moose Saloon B-B-Q Cookoff registration and set up begin is from 8 a.m. to noon with judging at 4:30 p.m. Check Facebook page for more details. The Blue Moose will also host a Bag’s-n-Beer bean bag tourney. Register from 11 a.m. to noon, tournament starts at 12:30 p.m.. $20 per team of two. Firemen’s dodge ball will be held in the afternoon.
The kid’s pedal-pull will accept registration at 1 p.m. with pulling to start at 1:30 p.m.. This is a state sanctioned pull.
The Alumni reunion banquet for the Vernon Consolidated, Renwick Independent and Boone Valley Community schools will start with a social hour at 5 p.m. with meal served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $14 and available at W&H Fast-way in Renwick. The firemen’s street dance will follow the days activities in front of the Blue Moose Saloon with the Dan Grause band from Des Moines performing. $10 entry. A food vendor will be on site Winners will be drawn for two guns: a S+W Bodygaurd 380 and a Dpms Oracle 223. Limited number of tickets sold.
