Arts at the Ridge presents ‘A Night of Cabaret’

“A Night of Cabaret” will be an evening of dining and entertainment, with a singing waitstaff that you will not want to miss on Friday and Saturday .

The doors and the bar Willow Ridge Golf Course will open at 5:30 p.m. on both days, then beginning at 6:30 p.m. guests will be served the first course of their three course meal. The meal will consist of a salad, main course, and dessert prepared by Chef Michael Hirst and the Iowa Central Community College Culinary Arts students.

“The idea of the show came from a restaurant (Ellen’s Stardust Diner) we used to visit when in New York City that featured a singing waitstaff,” Kathleen Schreier, director or choral activities at Iowa Central Community College, said.

Most of the songs will consist of the waitstaff coming around and singing at the tables, while some songs will be performed on stage.

“It’s a great experience for singers to showcase their talents, and also to gain experience for those who would like a career in music.” Schreier said.

Some of the waitstaff performers include the vocal jazz ensemble, vocal jazz men, Clare Flattery, Austin Sorenson, Dakota Hall, Lauren Stewart, Josh Gibbons, Jade Green and many more talented Iowa Central students with beautiful voices that guests will be able to listen to while enjoying their meal.

Some of the songs guest will hear throughout the night include “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “The Trolley Song,” “May You Always,” “Save the Last Dance for Me,” “Fly Me to the Moon” and “The Parting Glass.”

“It is a very relaxed, intimate, friendly and warm atmosphere at Willow Ridge,” Schreier said. “The guest will never know what song will be next, or when the waitstaff will break out into song, which makes for an element of surprise.”

Arts at the Ridge presents “A Night of Cabaret” on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. allowing guests to get settled in for the night.
