Salsa Workshop planned in conjunction with online canning lessons

Can I still use Grandma’s canning recipes? This is a common question we hear from home food preservers. Iowans can learn the answer to that question and learn how to “Preserve the Taste of Summer” during online lessons and hands-on workshops from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

The eight online lessons are continuously available and must be completed prior to participation in a hands-on workshop. After completing the online lessons, participants may sign up for one or more hands-on workshops covering hot water bath canning (salsa), jams and jellies, pickle making or pressure canning listed on the registration information page.

A salsa workshop, taught by Holly VanHeel, Human Science Specialist, Nutrition & Wellness, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Badger Lutheran Church kitchen.
