Teen suicide is Lifetree Cafe topic
The growing number of teen suicides will be discussed at noon and 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lifetree Cafe at Cana, 18 S. Third St.
The program, titled “Exploring Teen Suicide: A Necessary Conversation,” features a filmed interview with Shay Black, a woman whose son unexpectedly took his own life.
In the interview, Black discusses the aftermath of losing her son.
“The toughest thing about suicide is the person with all the answers takes them with him,” she says. “The people who are left behind are left with overwhelming feelings that they have to deal with.”
During the program, Lifetree participants will have an opportunity to discuss what could be contributing to the epidemic of teen suicide.
Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Questions about Lifetree may be directed to the Rev. Barbara Huisman at 302-8036.
